Touching The Sky

A Film From The Acro Documentary Project

About the Film

We are on a mission to make the first feature-length documentary about Acro Yoga and its power to help us rediscover a sense of play in a modern and complex world.

Acro, sometimes called “acro dance” or “acro yoga,” is an artistic and physical form of play that can merge the movement of yoga with the dynamic lifts and balances of partner acrobatics. This practice is characterized by its fluidity, grace, and the stunning visual shapes and poses created by two or more humans in harmony.. With its roots in circus, acrobatics, and yoga, acro can be an art form or a collaborative sport, a fun way to exercise or meet new friends. But to truly understand it, you’ll have to see it up close.

Follow Chris, a blind man who struggled to find connection and community after losing his sight as a child. After he discoveres acro, Chris finally has the chance to play again and share his acrobatic talents without sight.

But, who else is discovering acro and how does it transform their lives? Could this unlikely practice help those in search of a new way to play in an increasingly loud and complicated world?

Join Chris as he sets out on a life-changing adventure, following several journeys, from newbies unlocking their first skills to elite performers pushing their limits, all in the spirit of play. Learn from scientist in medicine and community health about the physical and mental wellness benefits of acro. Could this recreational circus art leap into the mainstream and provide a safe, fun, and new way to play?

We’ve already begun filming, and as the stories unfold, we will be introducing the characters of the doc.
